Marriage, The Day The Magic Arrived

blog

Husbands never become good, they merely become proficient.”

Up in a puff of smoke. Sawed in half. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

There are undoubtedly a million ways to describe what happens in a magic show. Some you may be familiar with, but of course many you may never have even heard of or even care to know about.

Marriage is very much like an old fashioned magic show.

The day that the magic show arrived in the town of my heart, I not only bought the tickets for the show… I bought into a ringside seat for the greatest show on earth, for this life and beyond!

As I began to settle in, I got the popcorn, bought the cotton candy of affection and even gave in to the cream soda of compassion. (what ever happened to cream soda?)

Yeah buddy, I signed up for the feast of my life. Being married was to be everything under the big top of my life that I and every man has ever dreamed of. Super feats of strength, rainbows and purple passions of love and so much fun that I would be guaranteed to laugh and cry for the duration of my entire married life. What a show!

Even I have to admit that while among the flowers and pageantry, it really is the brides day and was quite the experience at being in the midst of her special Remote Magician. It was certainly mystical, dramatic and full of the sights and sounds of all things between a man and a woman in commitment that are good.

On our road of married life to 30 plus years together, there seems to be (and have been) quite a few entertaining sideshows that makes one want to come back for repeated performances. That is the magic that keeps marriages on stage and in the limelight.

There I was, sitting in the big marriage arena of life, in the dark.

When all is quiet and the suspense and anticipation of being married begins to build… the spotlight comes on and there is your new married life… center stage for all the world to see.

As I begin the first of many performances, I thrilled that crowd of one, my bride, with all my skillful amazing magic. I managed to pull all kinds of rabbits out of that hat… some that even amazed me!

You my friend are a true man of magic. You captured a heart, soul and mind of your audience and got her to believe in you.

Live long and prosper.
